An ugly duckling having undergone a remarkable change, still harbors feelings for her crush: a carefree playboy, but not before his business-focused brother has something to say about it.
-
While she was growing up, Sabrina Fairchild spent more time perched in a tree watching the Larrabee family than she ever did on solid ground. As the chauffeur's daughter on their lavish Long Island estate, Sabrina was invisible behind the branches, but she knew them all below - There is Maude Larrabee, the modern matriarch of the Larrabee Corporation; Linus Larrabee, the serious older son who expanded a successful family business into the world's largest communications company; and David, the handsome, fun-loving Larrabee, who was the center of Sabrina's world until she was shipped off to Paris. After two years on the staff of Vogue magazine, Sabrina has returned to the Larrabee estate but now she has blossomed into a beautiful and sophisticated woman. And she's standing in the way of a billion dollar deal. —Official DVD cover

The Larrabees are a wealthy family, living in a palatial estate on Long Island. Oldest brother Linus (played by Harrison Ford) is the formal, dour businessman, running the family company. David (Greg Kinnear) is a playboy. Among the staff living on the estate is the family chauffeur, Fairchild (John Wood), and his shy, awkward, plain daughter, Sabrina (Julia Ormond). Sabrina has had a crush on David for most of her life but he has hardly noticed her. Sabrina goes to study in Paris and comes back, two years later, a changed woman. She's sophisticated and beautiful and soon catches David's eye. However, David is engaged to Elizabeth Tyson (Lauren Holly), the daughter of a business mogul whose company Linus wants to merge with that of the Larrabees. If Sabrina wrecks the David-Elizabeth relationship it would likely spell the end of the business merger. Linus sets out to prevent Sabrina from getting in the way but in the process falls for her himself. —grantss

-
Sabrina Fairchild
More isn't always better, Linus. Sometimes it's just more.
Scene #2
-
Linus Larrabee
So, that really is a beautiful name. How did you get it?
-
Sabrina Fairchild
My father's reading. It's in a poem.
-
Linus Larrabee
Oh?
-
Sabrina Fairchild
"Sabrina fair, listen where thou art sitting under the glassy, cool, translucent wave, in twisted braids of lilies knitting the loose train of thy amber-dropping hair."
-
Sabrina Fairchild
[laughs to herself] It's an incredible airplane - it's beautiful. I've never seen anything like it.
-
Linus Larrabee
Ah, yes.
-
Sabrina Fairchild
Don't you ever look out the window?
-
Linus Larrabee
When do I have time?
-
Sabrina Fairchild
What happened to all that time we saved taking the helicopter?
-
Linus Larrabee
[lightheartedly] I'm storing it up.
-
Sabrina Fairchild
[seriously] No, you're not.
-
Linus Larrabee
[pause] So, your little poem - what does it mean?
-
Sabrina Fairchild
It's the story of a water sprite who saved a virgin from a fate worse than death.
-
Linus Larrabee
And Sabrina's the virgin.
-
Sabrina Fairchild
[quietly] Sabrina's the savior.
Scene #3
-
Linus Larrabee
[after he has sent Sabrina, presumably with David, back to Paris] David, where's Sabrina? You didn't go with her?
-
David Larrabee
Well obviously not, Linus, I mean, here I am, right? She's probably having her beverage service right about now.
-
Ingrid Tyson
Who's Sabrina?
-
Patrick Tyson
The chauffeur's daughter!
-
Linus Larrabee
Don't call her that!
-
Elizabeth Tyson
She was after David for a while, then apparently she switched to Linus. She seems to have decided that HE was the one with the power.
-
Linus Larrabee
[outraged, pointing to David] Is THAT what he told you?
-
Elizabeth Tyson
He told me everything, Linus.
-
Linus Larrabee
[to David] And you didn't see her before she left? You didn't talk to her?
-
David Larrabee
Oh, sure, I said goodbye, and I think I wished her luck. Maybe not. I told her I felt kind of funny accepting my brother's hand-me-downs
-
David Larrabee
, and I said don't take it personally, and you've always been generous to your women in the past, and I was sure she'd be more than compensated for... whatever!
-
David Larrabee
See! I told you! He loves her!
-
Ingrid Tyson
Who?
-
Patrick Tyson
Sabrina!
-
David Larrabee
[touching his mouth] Is he packed?
-
Mack
Yes.
-
Linus Larrabee
Is who packed?
-
Mack
You are. Just one bag.
-
Linus Larrabee
[flustered] Wait a minute, you - you packed my clothes? You went to my apartment?
-
Maude Larrabee
I took her!
-
Mack
We were up to our elbows in your underwear drawer; it was like touching the Shroud of Turin.
-
David Larrabee
Here, sign this. It's your authorization for the completion of the merger. AND this - it gives me the raise I deserve for the new position I'm assuming. There's a car waiting for you downstairs, a helicopter at East 60th... the plane ticket's been changed to the Concorde. It leaves in exactly 39 minutes. If you make it, you just might beat her there.
-
Elizabeth Tyson
Go, Linus! Don't think!
-
Linus Larrabee
[hesitantly] She... she must absolutely hate me!
-
Maude Larrabee
She'll get over it. We all do... Linus, you know I love you. No mother could be prouder. But I think it's time that you ran away from home.
-
David Larrabee
But sign these first.
-
Linus Larrabee
If you'll excuse me... it appears I have a previous engagement.
